Professional Training for Medical Laboratory Techniques Students Delivered by a Medical Laboratory Technician from MEDDEM Hospital

 

Within the framework of the 2025–2026 Spring Semester at Süleyman Demirel University (SDU), Isparta Vocational School of Health Services, a professional training activity titled “Training Delivered by a Medical Laboratory Technician” was conducted in collaboration with Isparta MEDDEM Hospital for second-year students of the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program.

The activity aimed to strengthen students’ professional knowledge and practical competencies, to integrate current field-based applications into the educational process, and to enhance career awareness. The training focused on key components of medical laboratory services that directly influence patient safety and quality management, including pre-analytical processes, specimen acceptance and rejection criteria, laboratory workflow, fundamental biosafety practices, documentation and traceability, and professional roles and responsibilities. The content was reinforced through illustrative examples and case-based discussions, enabling students to consolidate theoretical knowledge from an applied perspective. At the conclusion of the activity, learning outcomes were assessed based on participant feedback. The evaluation indicated that the training made a high-level contribution in terms of content appropriateness and transferability to professional practice.
