Memories and Experiences Shared through “Traces of Life from Yesterday to Today”
The academic staff and students of the Elderly Care Program in the Department of Health Care Services at SDÜ Isparta Vocational School of Health Services, together with the teachers and students of the Patient and Elderly Care Department at Tümay Yavuz Ali Ergun Girls’ Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, jointly organized an Older Persons’ Day gathering themed “Traces of Life from Yesterday to Today.”
Held on October 5, 2026, to mark the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, the event was hosted by Tümay Yavuz Ali Ergun Girls’ Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. It brought together residents of nursing homes and care centers for people with disabilities, care staff, and students.
Participants shared their memories and life experiences through activities including creating an “Aging Tree” and an experience-sharing poster, word searches, and traditional games. These activities gave students an opportunity to get to know older adults more closely and created a welcoming setting for mutual learning and friendly conversations.
A live music performance by Emrullah Bakır, a graduate of our Elderly Care Program, enlivened the gathering. Participants enjoyed spending time together with musical accompaniment.
Highlighting the value of listening to life experiences and spending time together, the gathering concluded with the presentation of participation certificates and a commemorative group photograph.
