Intergenerational Communication with Elderly Care Center Residents and Elderly Care Students
Our “Intergenerational Communication with Elderly Care Center Residents and Elderly Care Students” event organized by S.D.Ü. Vocational School of Health Services, Department of Health Care Services, Elderly Care Program was held on Friday, 11.10.2024 between 10:00-12:00 at Hafız İbrahim Demiralay Conference Hall.
The event was attended by Mr. Alperen Sözen, Responsible Manager of Isparta Private Nursing Home Elderly Care Center, Ms. İlke Korkmaz, Responsible Manager of Isparta Private Nursing Home Disabled Care Center, and our esteemed elders who are residents of the institution. Isparta Vocational School of Health Services Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümit Kara, Faculty Member Zeynep Senem Söyleyici Öcal, President of YBT Solidarity Association Veli Can Karaoğlan, Isparta Private Nursing Home Elderly Care Center Social Worker Eda Nur Başaranlar and Elderly Care Program students Şekure Sude Meydan and Fulya Karaaslan attended the event as speakers.
In the first part of the event, experiences were shared on the importance of communication between the elderly and young people and how to strengthen intergenerational interaction. Participants made various suggestions on how to contribute to the social life of the elderly and how young people can benefit from this process.
In the second part of the event, in parallel with the Elderly Day, the elderly care program students introduced our school to the elderly individuals who participated in the event with the interest and support of the management of Isparta Private Nursing Home Elderly Care Center and Isparta Private Huzur Disabled Care Center.
