“Campus Shield: SİBERAY & SDÜ" Project Implemented
Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi conducted a seminar aimed at increasing awareness and knowledge about cybercrime among students of the Isparta Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulu as part of the campus-wide social responsibility project “Campus Shield: SİBERAY & SDÜ.”
The project is being carried out in cooperation with the University’s Community Engagement and Stakeholder Coordination Office and the Cybercrime Department of the Isparta İl Emniyet Müdürlüğü. Within the scope of the program, students were provided with comprehensive information about the current scale of cybercrime, potential risks encountered in digital environments, and individual-level protective measures.
During the seminar, the police representative emphasized that cybercrimes have increased significantly in recent years and highlighted the importance of conscious and cautious internet use, particularly among young people. Topics such as common online fraud methods, phishing attacks, and the protection of personal data were discussed through practical examples.
Participants were reminded that not all information encountered online is reliable, and it was emphasized that protecting personal digital data is both an individual and social responsibility. Attention was also drawn to the psychosocial effects of cyberbullying, which has become increasingly common among peers, and guidance was provided on the appropriate steps to take when faced with such situations.
The project is planned to continue for nine weeks across different academic units of the university, with the aim of increasing students’ awareness of digital risks and promoting a culture of safe and responsible internet use.
