An event was held to increase mental and psychomotor activities of patients with dementia

Our event was organized within the context of social contribution by the Elderly Care Program of the Department of Health Care Services at S.D.Ü. Vocational School of Health Services in collaboration with the Isparta Private Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center, titled “Enhancing Cognitive and Psychomotor Activities for Dementia Patients,” was held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Event Hall of the Isparta Private Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center.

The event was attended by Alperen Sözen, Manager of the Isparta Private Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center, Eda Nur Başaranlar, Social Worker at the Isparta Private Nursing Home and Elderly Care Center, esteemed elderly residents with dementia, and students from the Elderly Care Program.

In the first part of the event, the students engaged in mental activity exercises with the elderly residents in one-on-one and group settings, fostering a conversational environment. This was followed by enjoyable activities that enhanced psychomotor skills for dementia patients, including finger painting, thread painting, Jenga, and Okey.
