A Special Event for Respect for the Elderly Week at Tazelenme University
As part of the March 18–24 Respect for the Elderly Week, meaningful and engaging activities were organized through the collaboration of Tazelenme University and students of the Elderly Care Program. These activities were designed and implemented by the students במסגרת their “Vocational Training in Elderly Care II” course. The program, which brought together older adults and young people, aimed to strengthen intergenerational interaction and raise awareness about the aging process.
The event was coordinated by Lecturer Ebru Acarbaş and carried out with the participation of students from both the Elderly Care Program and Tazelenme University. Throughout the program, participants took part in a variety of educational and enjoyable activities, allowing them not only to spend quality time together but also to benefit from each other’s life experiences. In particular, games supporting cognitive development and activities aimed at improving fine motor skills contributed to building strong connections among participants.
During the event, students had the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the life experiences of older individuals, while the elderly participants shared the joy and energy of being together with younger generations. This interaction, which fostered mutual understanding and empathy, once again highlighted that aging is not only a biological process but also a social and cultural richness.
At the end of the program, participants expressed their satisfaction and emphasized the importance of increasing such activities. This meaningful organization, held במסגרת Respect for the Elderly Week, stood out as a valuable example of intergenerational solidarity.
